Dr Phuong Leung
Dr Phuong Leung is the founder of individual Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (iCST) Dementia Training and Consultancy. She has a multidisciplinary background spanning across dementia care fields; research, teaching/training, leadership development coach and consultancy.
She is a senior dementia research fellow at the Division of Psychiatry, University College London (UCL). She joined the Division of Psychiatry, UCL in 2011 and has worked in three major research programmes in dementia which included.
Dr Phuong Leung has a PhD in psychiatry at UCL. Her primary research interests are on systematic reviews, designing, developing and evaluating the effectiveness of cognitive and psychosocial interventions for people with dementia and their family carers. She develops and delivers evidence-based cognitive and psychosocial approaches training programmes to empower the health and social care workforce and family carers to deliver the best quality of dementia care . She has published over thirty academic papers in relation to cognitive and psychosocial interventions in dementia and is an author of the “Making Difference 3” a carer manual for iCST.
Prior to her dementia research career, she worked in the community for eleven years as a health and mental health promotion practitioner. Her community work has spanned from working with young to older vulnerable adults living with complex physical health, mental health problems and cognitive decline. She therefore will bring strong knowledge and understanding of health, mental health and social care to the centre’s training programmes.

DISSEMINATING RESEARCH FINDINGS
Dr Phuong Leung a keynote speaker at the 1st International Colloquium "Aging, Health and Citizenship" conference 2018 in Coimbra Portugal regarding "Making a difference 3” individual Cognitive Stimulation Therapy in dementia.
Dr Phuong Leung presented “The effects on carer well-being of carer involvement in cognition-based interventions for people with dementia: a systematic review and meta-analysis.” at the Alzheimer Disease International conference 2017- Kyoto, Japan
